We started with a notion that we wanted to do something important. Our desire was to create a business that we could be proud to talk to our kids about at the supper table.
Today that vision has crystalized around three things:
We work with small businesses and non-profits that align with our values and are having a positive impact on our community. They are organizations which deserve continuous top-notch financial management.
We invest in non-profits with our time and by committing 1% of our revenue to non-profit organizations. We support organizations that focus on fighting poverty, helping children be all they can be and building capacity within the community.
It's important to us to provide opportunities for young people in New Brunswick. We think we've created a great environment to start your professional career — one that emphasizes collaboration, mentorship and the chance to work with cool, purpose-driven organizations.
We design our service to meet the specific needs of each client. The idea is that they get just the right amount of each of the things that they need and they get it consistently through the year. Here are some of the arrangements that have made sense to our clients:
A lot of our start-up clients have their own bookkeepers or do the books themselves. They look to us to make sure their processes work and to help them analyze their results and plan for the future.
We can become our clients' accounting department and provide a range of skills from the day-to-day bookkeeping to strategic planning activities. We take responsibility for everything so that they can focus on growing their business.
We love to see our clients grow. At some point it makes sense for them to start hiring an internal team. When that time comes we can continue to play a role — mentoring team members and lending a hand on complex matters.
